No previous art experience is necessary! Everyone is an artist in their own right and the most important aspect of your session is the creative process and how it facilitates your journey.
Your therapist will not judge or analyze your artwork. There is no right or wrong way to create artwork. Your artwork is a form of communication and expression and it can never be too much or too little or wrong.
Your therapist will have a toolbox of materials for you to use during in-person sessions. Many sessions may be geared towards a particular set of materials because it may provide the best use for a particular art suggestion.
If you are doing a virtual session and want a supply list, one can be provided to you. However, if you would prefer to work with the tools you have at home, the therapist can work on creating art suggestions that are tailored to your needs.
Yes, we are under supervision and believe it is vital to have a supervisor despite the number of years one has been practicing. A supervisor provides stratgies and support which helps us help you more efficiently.
We do not bill directly to insurance at this time, but may do so in the future. We accept major credit cards via the JaneApp and require payment immediately after a session has been completed. We will email you an electronic invoice that you can submit to your insurance company. A paper copy can be provided upon request.
All individual Psychotherapy sessions are $140.00/hour plus HST, while all individual Art Therapy sessions are $150.00/hour plus HST. A sliding scale is available if you do not have insurance. Each session is 50 minutes long.
All Couples Psychotherapy Services are $175.00 plus HST and are 50 minutes long.
Closed group sessions are purchased in a package of 6 as they function as a series. They are themed sessions with pre-determined art suggestions and are 1 hour long. Each session will cost $50.00/person per session ($300.00 for six sessions/person). In-person sessions will include supplies.
Open group sessions can be purchased one at a time and cost $50.00/hour/session.
In-person sessions will include art supplies, while virtual sessions will not.
We usuallt recommend 10 to 12 sessions to potentially be able to see some form of progress and work on emotional regulation techniques. The first few sessions are generally spent getting to know the client and understand what they are looking for. Sessions are recommended to run weekly especially to maintain accountability and continuity, which can eventually be changed to biweekly or more. However, it is the client's preference as to how many sessions they would like to attend and how often.
The length and frequency of therapy varies for everyone. We welcome the client to share openly about adding extra sessions as needed or wishing to take a break and reduce the frequency of sessions.
Only the client and the therapist are present in sessions. This is due to confidentiality and ethical obligation.
If the client is under 18 and would like to have a dyadic session with their parent, they would have to inform us and provide consent before the parent is brought into the next session.
Your child has the right to share or withhold information about the session from you. We have an obligation to maintain your child's confidentiality.
We can, however, offer you feedback as to how sessions are going depending on how much your child is open to sharing. If there is a danger or concern to your child or someone else, we are obligated to share this information with you.
If your child does share something with you and you feel you can provide feedback as to how things are progressing and whether or not certain things are helping, you can reach out to us at any time!
If a client takes a break or wants to end the sessions for any particular reason, they are most welcome to let us know. Letting us know as soon as possible allows us to prepare our sessions to bring them to a close and properly communicate and highlight all of the progress and skills that were obtained during sessions. Furthermore, this would allow us to address any concerns and potentially provide resources or make any referrals if necessary.
We kindly ask clients to share feedback on sessions if possible.
We have a mix of days during the week in which we offer evening appointments up to 10pm in order to accommodate your work, family, and school timings.
Please take a look at our schedules to see what timings are offered by which therapist and when.
Lots of clients will book up to 3 to 8 weeks of sessions in advance to ensure that they have the same day and time during their desired weekly, bi-weekly, tri-weekly, or monthly time frame. Clients are able to book sessions in advance and cancel before the 24 hour period to avoid the no-show or late cancelation fee which is up to the full cost of the session.
Why do they do this?
This helps clients ensure that they will have their therapy slot booked on a weekly basis so that they do not have to worry about remembering to book it or confusing when their appointment is booked. This reduces the mental load for individuals who live busy live, require the ongoing support, have chronic illness, memory loss, or executive dysfunction of some sort.
Online sessions are available Monday to Saturdays.
In-person sessions are available Tuesdays from 2pm to 5pm, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am-5pm, and Saturdays from 11am to 1pm at 208-719 Central Parkway West, Mississauga, Ontario L5B 4L1, Canada.
All hours are subject to the therapists availabilities as different therapists have different schedules. Please check in with your therapist for further assistance if required.
